[OoC]
Upon arriving at the Spires of Xin-Shalast, we eventually entered the largest building and strode up a long ramp to a set of double doors guarded by a trio of cloud giants. A battle ensued in which giants died and we were able to loot three sihedron rings from their corpses. With these rings, Lai'Ki, Tolgun, and Epshi were able to join the rest of the party in negating the detrimental effects of the occlusion field. After the battle with the cloud giants, we entered a small storage area or large closet and found some kind of magical illusion or projection of our nemesis, Karzoug, who promptly hit us with a heavily damaging spell before vanishing. We quickly healed ourselves and opened the large double doors into a long hallway, where another image of Karzoug soon appeared ready to hit us with another spell. Thankfully, the image was dispelled when Ryll charged into it and no harmful effects occurred.
Ryll had a strong feeling that we should travel to the left down the corridor and open another set of double doors. On the other side was a large, opulent throne room guarded by three storm giants. A human, clad in magical armor and brandishing a golden sword, identified herself as the Champion of Greed and challenged Ryll to a duel to the death. Ryll accepted and a fight between the two combatants ensued. Ryll died, so the rest of the party rushed to her aid, breathing life back into the paladin and cutting down her attacker. A prolonged battle with the storm giants ended with the giants dead and several of the party badly wounded and many resources spent.
We discovered that the sword wielded by the Champion of Greed was a powerful artifact that almost turned Tolgun into a bad guy...or at least a worse guy.
